SAP Product Hierarchy - Example ABAP Program using rv_produkthierarchie_text_get Function
Hello ABAP developers, in SAP systems there are levels of product hierarchies as well as other SAP objects like customer hierarchies, price hierarchies, etc.
In this ABAP tutorial, I want to show how we can get the levels of product hierarchies and display defined text and descriptions for each sap product hierarchy using ABAP rv_produkthierarchie_text_get function call.
In an SAP system you can define the SAP product hierarchy as you wish.
In this ABAP example code, I will show how you can define each level in product hierarchy, get text for each levels of product hierarchy by using rv_produkthierarchie_text_get ABAP function call.
The product hierarchy is stored in a character field with 18 characters long.
Each product hierarchy has 3 letters or 3 characters long code in product hierarchy table.
So my sample sap product hierarchy has 6 levels of product hierarchies.
Here is the ABAP code which is used for getting product hierarchy descriptions using ABAP function rv_produkthierarchie_text_get.
The SAP product hierarchy code that I'll try to extract definitions of each level is "RU1101105102111230" and I keep it as a variable named prdh.

If you trace the following abap report or debug the abap program, you will see that I split the product hierarchy code into 3,6,9,... characters long pieces in the Abap WHILE block.
Again in the WHILE abap code fragment, I store each hierarchy of product in the internal table gt_str which is a table of type gty_str.
Actually an ABAP array that contains only one string field.
The second part of the below ABAP program is the section where I call function RV_PRODUKTHIERARCHIE_TEXT_GET for each entry in the internal table.
The ABAP function rv_produkthierarchie_text_get gets the text defined for the related product hierarchies.
The desired SAP product hierarchy should be set into a DISP_T179 table where in the below ABAP example code, they are passed to the rv_produkthierarchie_text_get function in the PRODH_TAB variable.
The is a table of the structure PRODH_DISP and you can set the product hierarchy code and the target SAP system.
Also you define the target language for translation while calling ABAP function rv_produkthierarchie_text_get using SPRAS parameter.

You can see that the ABAP WRITE statement has displayed text of SAP product hierarchies in 6 seperate lines.
It is also possible to read the SAP product hierarchies text and description for each level of product hierarchy by using ABAP codes that select data from T179T SAP tables.
