During the installation of SQL Server 2008 (Katmai) CTP November, I got the following error.

Do you have any idea, what does this mean?



Setup has encountered the following error:

'LandingPage' is not a valid value for setting 'ACTION'. Refer to Help for more information.

I have at last pointed what is causing the problem.

Not a surprise actually. Just the regional settings problem. I think Turkish is not one of the supported languages for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Katmai) CTP 5 or November CTP.

When I have altered the system regional settings to US, the setup started successfully.

If you open the setup.xml file in folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap you can see that there are comments saying "Sequence Id must be all CAPS".

Perhaps some characters specific to some languages may trigger the problem.

I hope to finish the installation successfully.

By the way, I think I know what does the LandingPage means.

This is the SQL Server Installation Center, new tool used as SQL Server installation wizard.

You can reach the Reagional and Language Options using the Control Panel.

Hello all,

You know CTP6 (February 2008 CTP) is released and you can download it from Microsoft Downloads or from Microsoft Connect sites.

I got the same error message regarding to Landing Page when I run the setup.exe

'LandingPage' is not a valid value for setting 'ACTION'


But after I have changed the regional settings and target installation folder, I managed to install the SQL Server 2008 February CTP successfully with full installation settings.
