Hello,
Microsoft has released SQL Server 2008 R2 for RTM use of SQL Server professionals.
I have downloaded SQL Server 2008 R2 Trial , the free trial download for 32 bit OS from Microsoft Downloads.
But I can not upgrade SQL Server 2008 SP1 to SQL Server 2008 R2 Evaluation edition.
The upgrade from SQL Server 2008 SP1 to SQL Server 2008 R2 fails when the Upgrade Rules are checked.
The upgrade rule "SQL Server 2008 R2 Feature Upgrade" fails and the detail message is as follows :
The specified edition upgrade is not supported. For information about supported upgrade paths, see the SQL Server 2008 R2 version and edition upgrade matrix in Books Online
Here is my current MS SQL Server 2008 SP1 instance information :
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1) - 10.0.2531.0 (Intel X86)
Mar 29 2009 10:27:29
Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation
Developer Edition on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 3)
I think if I can find an indicator that marks the installed current SQL Server 2008 version as SP1 and change it as RTM version of MS SQL Server 2008, I can successfully upgrade from SQL Server 2008 SP1 to SQL Server 2008 R2
What do you think? Do you have similar problems during installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 ?
