Microsoft has recently released two new
Windows 7 certification exams for beta period. One of these two Windows 7 exams is
Exam 71-685: PRO: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician and the other Win7 exam is
71-686: Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator.

Exam 71-685: Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician is the beta version of Exam 70-685: Pro: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician exam.
Microsoft beta certification exams are free and candidates are invited to take the beta exams by an MCP newsletter. The MCP Flash newsletter inviting you to a beta exam includes the exam vouchers or the certification exam promotional codes which can be used to register the exam for free.
If you are not invited, you have still chance to take the beta certification exam for free. These promotional codes and vouchers are generally published on some web sites. And using these prommotion codes or exam vouchers you can register free for these Microsoft beta exams on the Prometric website.

The public registration of exam 70-685 begins at September 14, 2009
and beta exam period starts at September 14, 2009
and last day of beta period for Exam 70-685 is October 16, 2009.

promotional code "EDST7" during the registering at Prometric web site.
If you succeed in the beta exam 71-685 it will be treated as the final release exam of 70-685 and it counts as credit towards the
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7.
