I take the 71-445 SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence - Implementation and Maintenance Beta Exam

Yes, I took the beta exam 71-445: TS: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence - Implementation and Maintenance.

I feel sad for the results although I did not take the score yet. The beta exam score will be sent after the beta period of the 71-445 expires.

I exam was diffucult for my experience with the BI applications I'm developing in my job. Especially the data mining questions were too foreing for my current skills. So I believe I will fail the 71-445.

The number of the asked questions in the beta exam is 70. And the duration of the test is 210 minutes. It last nearly two hours for me to complete the exam.

You know Exam 70-445: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence - Implementation and Maintenance is required for achieving the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 Business Intelligence certification. Also 70-445 certification exam is a requirement for MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer along with the Exam 70-446: PRO: Designing a Business Intelligence Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005. By the way I had also got an invitation for the Beta Exam 71-446: PRO: Designing a Business Intelligence Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Within the next month I'll be taking the 71-446 as well. You can follow this blog for my 71-446 beta exam experience in the following weeks.

SQL Server 2008, Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance Certification Practice Exam

The SSRS (SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services) related questions were gathered around the following topics, as I remember from the day I took the exam

Call customized code (functions) within Layout design. For example Code.FunctionName(...)

Show total sums on Group Footer using Sum(Fields!InvoiceAmount.Value)

Dataset Command Types ( StoredProcedure, TableDirect, Text)

OverwriteDataSources option

Creating Linked Report

Report Server parameters (:rs) and Rendering Device Info parameters (:rc) http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa256629(SQL.80).aspx

RS Utility Tool (rs.exe)

URL Addressability and Report Server syntax

New RS installation by moving existing databases to an other server

Group visibility toggled by report items

Data-driven subscription

And the SSIS (SQL Server 2005 Integration Services) related questions were related with

Data Flow controls (the only SSIS control asked about was data flow controls)

Parameter Setting within Data Flow control

Breakpoints

Deployment

I'll be adding about the exam as far as I remember about the questions.

Wish you luck with the exam if you plan to take the 71-445.

Thank you for that those pointers. I took 70-445 yesterday and sadly failed with a 678 grade.

Just to add to your list, here's some more covered topics:

Changing clustering methods (Scalable K-means to Non-Scalable K-Means) using the CLUSTERING_METHOD parameter.

Processing Data Mining Structures (ProcessFull, ProcessStructure, etc)

Removing odd blank pages on the report

Transaction Handling (http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/jthomson/transactionsinsqlserver2005integrationservices.asp)

Error Handling (capturing errors)

Dimension Relationships (Regular, Reference, Fact, Many-to-Many)

Translations

Default aggregation function of measure groups

Last month I passed the MCTS 70-445 BI exam.
This makes me one of the 338(October, 2007) Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists worldwide!
So why is this exam difficult? I think it’s because of the amount of detail in the questions.......
